SprocketHeads, LLC is Alaska’s only high-end production and production services company. SprocketHeads produces and provides production services for high-end commercials, network programming, contemporary documentaries, feature films, and music videos. From thin air to edited master, our work is as evocative and unexpected as the Last Frontier. Heroic scenics, aerial cinematography, remote locations, and extreme adventures are our specialties. And we love warm studio shoots!

In 2010 SprocketHeads was a production services and pass-through company for Universal Pictures / Working Title Films’ Everybody Loves Whales (Director: Ken Kwapis, DP: John Bailey, ASC, Starring: Drew Barrymore, John Krasinski, Kristen Bell, Ted Danson, Vinessa Shaw, Dermot Mulroney, format: 35mm) and Ghost Vision (Director: Josef Rusnak, Staring Jon Voight and Teri Polo, format: RED). SprocketHeads’ DP/Cinematographer, Steve Rychetnik, worked on both projects as DP/Operator and Operator.

Tour of Anchorage genre: Television PSA

For one day every winter, a couple thousand cross country ski marathon maniacs converge on one narrow, winding 50-kilometer ski trail and literally fly through the heart of Anchorage. With a handful of volunteers and four hours of daylight, we shot 35mm in the snow and 16mm from Jet Ranger with a Tyler middle mount. Sprox Executive Producer does this race.

In Alaska, they're called snow machines, not snowmobiles, and serious riders call them Iron Dogs. Lots of hand-held and some studio set-ups in the spot that was filmed in 16mm with an old Aaton LTR.

Like many Americans, we had to do something, say something in response to the 911 attacks. Our response was purely canine. CNN and FEMA provided actual footage from Ground Zero and we filmed the rest on 35mm. Won lots of awards.

The story of Aleut Americans interred in abandoned and forgotten fish camps during World War II. Filming took place primarily in the Aleutian Islands and Southeast Alaska.
